The Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia "roller coaster" is real. When you're in the NICU watching your loved one, there are days when he/she seems to regress, and days when he/she improves greatly. It's hard to tell ANYONES prognosis based on how they're doing in just one day.
It's scary when all of these numbers are thrown at you, such as the lung-to-head ratio or survival rate. Ultimately neither numbers mean much. They're an estimate.
This shouldn't make you hopeless though or scared, or feel sorry for parents. Knowing that these numbers are NOT guarantees of life or death, means there is so much HOPE that the baby will survive despite low numbers ❤
